More Information about Markaudio MAOP 11 in Frugel Horn XL

Frugel Horn XL speakers with Markaudio Sota MAOP 11 full range drivers.

Apologies for any 'Audiophile cliches'. Happy to demo. Collection preferred. Can deliver within reasonable distance.

The selling price of - £680 - is £400 less than the current (unbuilt) price of the KJF Audio Frugelhorn XL kit + the 2 Markaudo MAOP 11 drivers (all of which comes to £1080) + I am including in the price the matching bespoke plinths

A very pure sound - which is direct from your amplifier signal as there are no crossovers, no electronics and no filters to get in the way. Vocals and individual instruments are really 'in the room'.

Professionally constructed in 2023 by an experienced enthusiast who has constructed multiple speakers types. He also made the matching bespoke plinths which really do make a difference when each speaker is placed on them. The cabinets are Baltic Birch ply and not MDF. The finish is wood grain with rounded corners.

The sound-stage is VERY cohesive, open and neutral. There is enough low bass frequencies for most people, and gorgeous mid-range and smooth highs with no annoying brightness or sibilant tones.

The Markaudio MAOP 11 is their best and most expensive driver to date and is a truly exceptional transducer.

The best well-known speaker to compare with are the £6000 'Pearl Acoustics Sibelius' - a different cabinet design and a Markaudio driver which is actually lower down their range (although it is bespoke to the Sibelius)

Watch the Zero Fidelity YouTube channel 'Pearl Acoustics Sibelius' review.

As you may know this type of speakers are superb with less 'complex' recordings and especially live music.

I listen to lots of baroque classical, other classical, vocal and acoustic music, Jazz and some ambient electronica.

This is NOT a speaker for heavy bass music like banging Techno or Heavy Rock.

I did use a subwoofer sometimes with these speakers, but it was switched off more than on.

My system with these speakers was:

Musical Paradise music server -> into Musical Paradise MP-DX Tube DAC -> into SAM-A1 integrated valve amplifier -> into these speakers.

Come and have a listen. Thanks for reading.

Peter.
