More Information about Vintage Sansui TU-666 Tuner from 70s in great condition
Calling all retro Hi-Fi Fans - here's your chance to get your hands on a highly sought-after and rare Sansui TU-666 solid state tuner, the last of the Sansuis with the legendary 'Submarine' dial - in good, 100% working condition.
Manufactured from between 1971-1973.
This rare and beautiful tuner has been carefully stored in my parent's attic since the 90s - Dad was original owner from new.
As you can see, it still powers up fine after I put a new fuse in it, and that crazy giant green dial glows beautifully.
Wooden case is in great condition for its age, there's very slight scuff on one of the corners and a couple of very minor scratches.
The front panel has a few small spots on it, it looks like it might be dried varnish or something, but could possibly be cleaned off - I've tried and they wont' shift, but I didn't try anything too drastic like white spirit or anything. A professional restorer would probably shift them in a jiffy. Anyway, they are hardly noticeable.
There's some signs of age here and there; the facia could do with a good clean and there is dust behind the glass, and on on the rear some of the paint is slightly flaking, and a couple of the letters on the words on the front have worn slightly too, but generally its hardly anything considering it's over 40 years old. It's more of a 'patina' than damage... It still has the original 220v and Sansui/Japan sales stickers on the sides from when it was new!
It also still has the original Schematic plans kept which are kept in a folder underneath (See Photos)
It has been tested and works 100%, even without proper FM/AM aerial plugged in (it has inputs in the back for extended aerials) I just used the built-in aerial attached to the back and it picked up all radio am/fm fine and both audio output channels are fine.
All switches; noise cancel and mute are 100% fine too.
I'll include a box of 99 fuses (I used one of them!) as they are quite hard-to-find - I bought them to get it working again... they are 0.3A quick blow glass fuses which go in the back.
Audiophiles get your bids in! You won't see many more of these in such good condition so now's your chance...
